Victor Harbour & Granite Island

We spent Friday (25th January) at Victor Harbour and Granite Island.

Victor Island was described by someone we spoke to as God's waiting room. I guess think Weston Super Mare with better weather. It is very beautiful though. We had a nice wander around the town and then walked over the bridge to Granite Island - home of the penguins.

Before I left the UK Adam had told me that there was an island that you could go see penguins. I said he was making it up, which resulted in twenty minutes on google and wikipedia. Turns out he was right. Not that we saw any. Apparently you only really see them at dusk when they come out of their little hiding places and go into the water for food. We didn't stay that long. We did see some very impressive rocks though (see below). You'd think for someone who lived in Aberdeen big pieces of Granite wouldn't be that impressive, but they were pretty cool.

After Granite Island we headed back Victor to continue our mini golf challenge. I had been winning 1-0 after a rather impressive 6 shot victory on Pirate Island at Codonas. I should have known it wouldn't last and I lost by about the same margin. Which meant I was $50 down after paying for lunch!

In addition to losing at mini golf I also managed to burn my shoulders nicely, which meant a nice cover up for the cricket on Saturday.
